THINGS YOU CAN STILL DO RIGHT NOW
USE YOUR IMAGINATION-You can pick any place that makes you happy. Try a place you went on vacation, someplace you've seen through pictures, or even a fantasy place. The important thing is to choose a place that makes you happy
PRACTICE SELF -LOVE -
- Take a few deep breaths
- Adjust the body for comfort
- Stretch or move gently
- Take a soothing action
- Offer yourself a warm touch—place a hand on the part that hurts, a hug, massage, belly breathing, etc.
- Say words of affirmation, “I am doing my best.” “I don’t know the answer, but I can sit here and breathe.”
- Have a cup of tea or coffee, a good meal, a glass of water, etc.
- Say no; ask for help
WATCH THE SUN RISE-
Relax -Don't think about stresses and jobs you have to do during the day. Instead, try to let all that sink away from your mind. If you practice yoga or meditation, this is a good time to do a little of that.
Watch as the sun slowly peeks out over the horizon. Find the edge and see the sky change from blood-red to orange to pink and purple and blue as the sun goes up. Pay attention to the rays breaking through the clouds.
Listen to the sounds around you. If you are near water, you can hear the fish beginning to wake up and the splashes of the water. Crickets and birds make nice sounds too.
WISH ON STARS -If you get lucky enough to see a shooting star, close your eyes before wishing. Then say, “Starlight, star bright, first star I see tonight: I wish I may, I wish I might, have this wish I wish tonight.” This old rhyme is rumored to make your wish come true.
APPRECIATE THE TINY THINGS -It doesn’t have to take much to be easily impressed. In fact, by actively paying attention to the positive things around us in life, we can be easily impressed by the beauty of life.
To be easily impressed (i.e., to truly appreciate the simple things in life), we have to:
- Look for the good stuff.
- Appreciate the small miracles that occur around us all the time
- Focus on the fantastic aspects of people and situations
- Let go of arrogant, erroneous notions like, “I already know that,” or, “I’ve seen it all,” or, “No big deal.”
ENVISION THE FUTURE -
- Being clear about what you want to achieve
- Identifying what you can do in the next 3 months to get closer to your goals
- Setting up systems to help you stay focused on your goals
- Rinse and repeat every month, every week, every day.
